Did you miss me?
I just looked at my blog and gee whiz it's been over a month--BEFORE Christimas--since I blogged. Inexcusable. Humblest apology to the couple of people who keep up with this. :)
Let's see...what's been going on? Well, not much actually. Deadlines, kids, Rusty, I have been blogging once a week on Faithchicks.com, but I don't think anyone reads me there except those of you who read me here, so not sure that's going to be something I'll keep doing.
I'm starting radio interviews now to promote Leave it to Claire. My first one aired today. I sounded really retarded, and I hope I get better at this! Was contacted by another radio station today, so I will be doing another one soon.
God is giving me great favor with buyers and CLAIRE is getting a lot of buzz. I feel a little bad that Claire is the bookclub book for ACFW bookclub's second month though. I had no idea the bookclub would get so much buzz or I would have put someone else in that spot. Looks kind of bad for the President of the organization to get her book in the second month. I mean, I didn't put it there, but I did OFFER. :) WHo knew so many people would read about us and join?
But I AM looking forward to it and to chatting with readers in March.
I'm finishing up I LOVE CLAIRE Book Three in the CLAIRE EVERETT series as we speak. Deadline is Jan 30. I thought it was the 31, and planned for that, so I might have to turn it in that day. I'm shooting for Monday though! Crit partners are sparse for this one. I had too much going on and couldn't write at the pace where it's reasonable to expect critiques. All my best friends and crit partners are rushing to their own deadlines or are swamped with life. So I'm nervous about that. This is my first time working with my new editor. Someone I highly admire and really want to impress. :) So I'm on my own. And I'm afraid I'm not going to meet her expectations. That's the problem when all your friends become famous, busy authors. :) They're crits go down the tube. So fair warning those of you in critique groups with friends who are at the same level. You'll all move forward close together and then one day you'll have no critique partners, but you WILL have sisters of the heart and that's SO much more important.
Steve (Laube) talks about how writers get in this abyss close to deadline and how they're completely alone. Only I've never felt that before. Oh, the abyss yeah, but my friends have always been in the abyss with me. :) Ok, I'll get over it. but I might be in the market for a new critique group. LOL not really. I'm just hoping they'll all read this and feel really bad and sorry for me. SNICKER.
So, I've been on a liquid diet the last week. Something I have to do for surgery in a week (More about that at a later date). I've lost 11 lbs!!!! And I still have another week of it. I was going to say, "my undies are getting loose" but I didn't want to offend anyone so I deleted it. :)
Well, off to write while I watch American Idol. Just saw a really sweet girl, Kelly Pickler audition. What a darling. I hope she makes it top 12.
Until next time. Tracey (from the Abyss) Bateman

I did, I did miss you! So glad to hear from you! Congrats on the Claire books doing so well. It's an awesome book. I laughed, sighed, and cried too. Great job. Do tell about the surgery. I'd offer to crit for you, but I don't think I could do your work justice. I'm just not at that level yet.
I will be praying for you, though.
Hugs! Don't wait so long to update. :0)
Oh, that is so true. I did get a crit from one of my famous prolific author friends and I owe her big-time for this latest proposal. Ha. She's got some books to write so I expect to be busy reading. I'm thankful for my writing sisters as we shuffle along together. :)
Hey, I thought that was you I saw over in the other corner of the abyss. Hang on, baby, Monday's coming!
And yeah, sister of my heart.
Rachel
hey look! You blogged! And I'm two days late in seeing it! Sheesh!
SO understand that crit partner/sister of the heart thing! (Ditto Pammer on critting for you but not thinking I would do it justice.)
Yay on 11 pounds! LOL And do you really think deleting it and then putting "my undies are getting lose" in quotes changes the offensiveness??? LOLOL That's priceless... not to mention I assume the four people that read your blog wouldn't get offended by that!
Shows how much you know, Heather! I'm highly offended that her undies are getting loose! Mine are just getting tighter since Thanksgiving. LOL. Okay, I so did not really say that. (Heather I'm kidding!) TRACEY!!! It's so wonderful to have you back in blogland! Don't ever stay gone that long again! BTW, this abyss is the pits. Get this book done so we can get out of here and go get a latte`, ok?
LOL Hey look at that! I'm being badgered by someone that doesn't know me! okay... whose been telling Christine that badgering me is par for the course? LOL
Liquid diet??? EEGADS!!! That's all i'm going to say about that. LOL Although, I do wish you well on your surgery and for a speedy recovery.
Abyss?? I wanna be in an abyss. WAH. *wink* I hope it all smooths out, and we'll see ya on the flip side!
