The Sandlot

The youth pastor, Rick Morrow, spoke today because my pastor was out of town. It's always a treat when this guy preaches because he's so relevant and teaches on a level that although real and deep, is also very easy to identify with. (The way I hope my writing comes across--simplistic gospel). He talked about legacy and used a clip from one of my all-time favorite movies, "The Sandlot". Anyone seen it? Anyway, Rick spoke about teaching your kids to walk uprightly before God--leaving them a legacy of faith. Man! I had lots of OUCH moments. Especially when he talked about chasing wealth and not taking time to teach by example the nature of Christ. And while I can honestly say I don't CHASE wealth from a sense of greed, I have been very focused on making money and raising my family's standard of living above where we have been. There's noting inherently wrong with that, but when it becomes the focus of your life, things get out of balance. I'm teaching my kids to work hard, but I'm also teaching them that if I'm on deadline I can stay home from church to work. Not good. Besides, God is my source...not my writing...HE will supply my needs according it HIS riches in glory by Christ Jesus and I need to relax and let Him take care of us. great message. We rented The Sandlot on the way home from church and I watched it again. Great movie. Two great things today. :)

Tv Preachers and Dr. Phil

Here's the thing... I have a few favorite TV preachers that I'll tune into if they are on TV. I am a huge fan of Joyce Meyer, Joel Osteen (and yes I was before we shared a publisher), Kenneth Copeland, Jesse Duplantis (on occasion--he makes me tired), and so on. But John Hagee is on at the same time as Dr. Phil. And well...I'd rather watch Dr. Phil. Is that wrong? I don't know but that's my confession of the day.

Another interview

Okay, so you've probably figured out that I never really started working yet. Well, a little editing here and there, but nothing substantial. I'm enjoying my down time. Seriously. Day before yesterday I watched Walk the Line in the middle of the day. :) It's a great movie and I hope they win oscars for portraying June and Johnny Cash.

Yesterday I had another interview. this time over the phone wiht a DJ from Alabama. I was the rush hour relief for all the people listening to the radio station down there. Bob was my interviewer and he was great! Different from Fred who interviewed me on Monday. But equally awesome. An interviewer who knows what to ask is worth his weight in gold. Made me feel comfortable.

Today I'm going to get my hair cut. It's awful. I haven't touched it since before Christmas. So I'm ready!

Well, off to do something. Not sure yet, but starting to feel guilty about being online for the last hour. :)
