BIRDS!!

So, you know that movie from the 50s with all the attacking birds? that didn't happen. BUT my heater hasn't been working and we've had a couple of shivery mornings where I wanted to use it. So I called the heating and cooling guys today to see what's going on. And there was a BIRD in my fan keeping it from turning. The good news about that is that I only had to pay 53.00 and I will not freeze in the morning when I get up. The bad news is...they didn't bury the bird. I mean they just tossed it into my yard!!! I wish I'd known that before I paid them, I would have used it as a point of negotiation. You want to get paid? Take the dead bird with you. Anyway, I'm working on edits for Catch a Rising Star, my first book in the Drama Queens series from Warner (now it's called Hachette, but that doesn't hold the same prestige as Warner in my opinion). It's hard to slash words that seemed so good three months ago. Now they look a bit dumb. I got a nice little (and by little I mean seven pages) edit letter back from my editor and have really had to knuckle down to wrap my head around slashing scenes and writing new ones. Don't get me wrong...it's going to be a MUCH stronger book, but OUCH!!

Wooden contacts???

Okay....so my fifteen year old son just got contacts. We were talking this morning about how much easier it's getting for him to get them in and out now that he's had them a few days. I happened to mention that I got contacts for the first time when I was 14. He gave me that amazingly ornery grin and said, "What were they made of? Wood?" HMMM Me thinks the boy needs a smack....

Little Zoe Bateman

So we got a new puppy. Shih Tsu. I registered her as Little Zoe Bateman. She's cute and sweet and I am in love. Totally defensive every time the kids say she looks like she ran into a wall. Or call her a Gremlin. GRRR. Tonight we bought a 1994 Honda Civic for me to be-bop around town in while Rusty's at work in the Trailblazer. The good part about this arrangement (the whole ME driving the Honda is that I get the next new car. :) And with two kids driving (my 15 year old will be sixteen and will inherit the Honda), I don't have to get a seven seater for the first time in 10 years. So I'm starting to look, even though it'll be a good 9 months before I can do it. I'm coming off a two week sabbatical. I'm so happy and relaxed and ready to dive back in to work. Thats all.
