Blogging from the ROAD

Hi all! I'm in Mobile, Al. Day one of my book tour wiht Lyn Cote, Shelley Bates and Deborah Bedford. So far so good.
Most important, hotel has free highspeed. Isn't that too cool? Usually I have to shell out 9.99 a day for internet.

This morning we had a TV interview with a local station. All four of us. It went really well and I'm pretty sure I didn't scratch or sniff or let my bra hang out. So I don't think I shamed the company or anything. :)

We had a nice luncheon hosted by Beth White who writes suspense for Zondervan. Her husband is the family pastor at a very nice and very large church here in Mobile. I really enjoyed meeting some of her staff and friends from her bookclub.

Well, tonight is our first booksigning at Books-a-Million in the Pinebrook shopping center. If you're in the Mobile area, be sure to come see us at 7 pm!

Peace Out

Shopping!!

Went shopping yesterday for new clothes down FIVE sizes. How is that even possible????? I'm gearing up for Sunday's trip to Mobile to meet Brynn and the other three authors. Nervous, excited and trusting God. Today I got an email from a friend who DeeJays on a radio station. He sent me a scripture. Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)
Thanks Fred!!!

A week from tomorrow

We begin our book tour. Can't believe it's crept up so suddenly. I'm not even close to ready for it. I wanted to be skinnier for one thing. 20 lbs skinnier. But I didn't lose as fast as I thought I would--as fast as a lot of people do. I am happy with 67 lbs. Don't think I'm not grateful. But I still have that much to go. So I'm getting discouraged. I won't have all the weight off by the ACFW conference like I'd hoped. Not even close... I watched TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD today. I love that book and had never seen the movie. Stays pretty close to the book. The book I'm writing has a racially charged trial and I was happy to see I had described the courtroom almost exactly the way one might have looked back then...blacks in the balcony, whites on the main floor. That's so unreal to remember how ignorant our country was. I guess some folks still are. I just don't get it. Okay, there are my rambling for the night. Peace. :)

Countdown to Book Tour

getting very excited!! I leave on June 18th (Father's Day--that's the only bummer), for a week-long book tour in the South. Never been to Alabama and have only been to Orlando in Florida, so this is very exciting. Looking forward to hanging out with Shelley Bates, Lyn Cote, Deborah Bedford and our very cool publicity person from Warner, Brynn--even Brynn's name is cool. I was thinking about using Laini for the name of my second Drama Queens heroine, but I'm thinking of changing it again and goign with Brynn before someone else snatches it up. I'm really into cool names. Found out from Jeane, my publicist that we will be doing two local TV shows. I ask you...have I lost 70 lbs only to have the camera add five back? Okay, that's nerves talking. I'm excited about being on TV. Warner Faith has gone all out--set up interviews with TV, radio, newspapers. I'm feeling special. :) Next week I turn in a deadline, buy clothes--ALL new clothes because of the aforementioned 70 lb loss. Any readers out there going to CBA in Denver? I just decided today that I am going to go. Busy four weeks ahead of me. PEACE!
